If you suffer from allergies, chances are you’ve seen the commercials that show allergy sufferers running on the beach allergy-free.  It’s a clever marketing ploy by large drug companies.  They use a popular medium (television) to implant images in your mind and lead you to believe that if you take their medication, you can rid yourself of those nagging allergies just like the people on screen.

But are they realistic?  Not exactly.

First of all, we simply cannot avoid the many agents that trigger allergies.  Secondly, allergens are all around us and no two individuals react to a given substance the same.  Finally, effective allergy relief usually means encountering the many side effects associated with these traditional medicines.  There’s a good chance that running on the beach would be the last thing on your mind if you felt extremely jittery or drowsy.

Take this into consideration:
A recently conducted study found that 31% of all patients are unsatisfied with their current allergy medication, with 60% of patients willing to search for an alternative.  Most felt that allergy drugs interfered with their mental functioning, motor skills, and daily functioning.  It’s no wonder why experts now agree that before choosing a ‘quick-fix’ with medications, all nonpharmacologic options be exhausted.

What does this mean?

It means that you should avoid the allergen that’s causing your adverse reaction, and utilize applied nutrition to bolster immunological functioning, instead of prescription meds.

Today, with the advent of Progressive Health’s Historal, this task is easier than ever before.  Historal has been formulated with time-tested ingredients that work to boost your natural immunity; thereby helping you fight off or reduce the occurrence of allergic reactions.  Historal’s revolutionary formula is the new, natural year-round approach for allergy management
.

Historal’s all natural ingredient profile insures that the symptoms of your allergies are relieved without the sedative effects commonly attributed to over-the-counter and prescription allergy medications.

Allergies, At a Glance:

The simplest definition of an allergy is; An overreaction of the immune system.  Individuals suffering from allergies respond to a substance from the environment called an allergen.  In people who have allergies, the exposure to what is normally a harmless substance causes the immune system to respond as if the substance was harmful.  There are numerous substances that can become allergy-causing agents. The most common triggers (allergens) are:

  • Pollen
  • Dust
  • Mites
  • Mold
  • Latex
  • Insect stings
  • Animal dander
  • Food, and
  • Medications.

Symptoms:

Allergy symptoms are dependant upon the individual and can range from very mild, to extremely severe (anaphylactic).  When an allergen enters the body of someone with a sensitized immune system, histamines are released into the blood by specialized cells.

Most people will experience only slight discomfort when these chemical messengers are released - suffering from a mild rash, itchy/watery eyes, and nasal congestion.  However, those with moderate to severe reactions can have difficulty breathing, extreme itchiness, and other symptoms that spread to various parts of the body.  In very rare cases, a severe and potentially life-threatening reaction, known as anaphylaxis, can occur. (See FAQs)

Of note: If the allergen is airborne, most reactions occur in the eyes, nose, or lungs.  Conversely, if allergies come into contact with your skin, or are ingested, you can present a rash and/or reactions inside the mouth, stomach and intestines.

Cause
:

Again, an allergic reaction is the result of an hyper-alert immune system.  First, when the body is exposed to a given allergen, antibodies are produced in the body (IgE) to fight the allergen.  These antibodies attach themselves to our body's mast cells, which in turn explode and release numerous chemicals into the blood stream, including histamines.  Histamines are responsible for causing the majority of symptoms of an allergy.

There are many forms of allergies, and can include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Allergic conjunctivitis: Inflammation of the conjunctiva, or tissue that lines the inside of the eyelid.

  • Allergic Rhinitis: Also known as hayfever, is an allergic response to pollen or other seasonal microscopic substances.

  • Analphylaxis

  • Allergic Asthma: Asthma that is triggered by an allergy (e.g. mold spores or animal dander).

  • Cosmetic Allergies: Allergic reaction spawning from the use of cosmetics, such as moisturizers, shampoos, deodorants, and make-up.

  • Drug Allergies: Certain medicines can cause allergic reactions.

  • Eczema: Also called atopic dermatitis, eczema is the inflammation or irritation of the skin and can result from the exposure to an allergen.

  • Food Allergies: The immune system reacts defensively to a specific food protein that is normally not harmful to the body.

  • Hives: Swollen, pale red bumps or patches that result from the body's reaction to a given allergen.

  • Sinusitis: Inflammation or swelling of the tissues lining the sinuses from an allergen.

Conventional Treatments:

Unfortunately, there is not one specific treatment or cure-all for allergy sufferers.  Doctors usually employ several different techniques to help people cope with allergies, and focus on minimizing the potential for allergic reaction, rather than trying to rid the individual of any and all allergies.

Perhaps the most important component to treating allergies is familiarity, or the act of becoming conscious of the agents that cause you to have a reaction.  Once you know what your allergic to, you should avoid the allergen as much as possible.  However, the act of avoiding the allergen often proves as difficult as finding permanent allergy relief.

Numerous medications can also be experimented with to assist in symptom management.  These can be of the over-the-counter (OTC) and/or prescription variety.  Immunotherapy (a long-term series of allergy shots) can be utilized if avoidance and prescriptions medications fail.  Finally, ongoing allergy education and communication between you and your primary care provider remains integral for the overall success of your allergy-management program.

Unlike traditional allergy treatments, which can be invasive and carry a high risk for side effects, Historal affords you long-term relief of Your worst allergy-related complications with a unique blend of clinically evaluated ingredients that are all natural.

For the millions of Americans who suffer from allergies, finding something to manage their allergies is a difficult and laborious process.  It seems that allergy sufferers cannot find a resolution fast enough, or one that is free of side effects and is reliable for the long-term.

Studies indicate that many consumers treat themselves-if at all-with popular over-the-counter medications.  However, making this decision isn't as easy as one might think.  Should I take this box, or the one that isn't generic?  Do I know how much I should take?  Can I combine these medications?  It seems the questions are as numerous as the medications on hand at your local pharmacy.

However, managing your allergies doesn't have to be a difficult and tedious process.  It shouldn't require you to spend hours in the doctors office or the grocery store.  There is a common denominator among the majority of allergy sufferers - they fail to address the most influential factor related to their allergies, nutrition

Countless studies have highlighted the impact of certain nutrients on immunological functioning and allergic response.  In fact, nutritional adequacy has been shown to enhance sleep, work productivity, and overall well being in those affected by allergies.

Historal’s revolutionary formula is the new, natural, year-round approach for allergy management.

Progressive Health's Historal is a potent nutritional aid that provides you with an effective allergy-specific formula that's safe, time-tested, and guaranteed.  Historal takes the guesswork out of allergy nutrition.

Not only does it support immunity naturally and free of side-effects, its synergistic blend of nutrients also works to shut-down the mechanism leading to an allergic response, rather than masking the symptoms like conventional medicines.  By controlling the release of histamines, Historal may improve immunological functioning and strength, while reducing or even eliminating the incidence and severity of allergy attacks.
