Aventrol: Nutritional Intervention for Congestive Heart Failure Sufferers

Addressing the underlying nutritional deficiencies that may be adversely impacting the heart remains critical for all CHF patients.  Aventrol accomplishes this with its safe, proprietary blend of nutrients that have been shown to support and improve heart and circulatory health.

Despite its frightening name, Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) is now considered a manageable condition.  The term “failure” does not imply that the heart has stopped working, it means that it is “failing” to operate (i.e. pump) at its optimal capacity.  Today, CHF sufferers are able to live active, full, and enjoyable lives with the help of standardized medical treatments and permanent lifestyle change.

CHF affects nearly 5 million Americans, with over ˝ million new cases diagnosed annually.  Realizing that condition management is the ultimate goal for those suffering from this condition, Progressive Health is here to help.  Your doctor will, in all likelihood, ask you to make necessary changes to your diet, exercise program, and lifestyle.  Progressive Health has designed Aventrol to support your new dietary modifications, giving you the right blend of nutrients to give you the highest possible quality of life.

Although there is no cure for Congestive Heart Failure, alternative therapies, like Aventrol, can help in the management this condition.  Aventrol’s comprehensive ingredient list ensures that the nutritional needs for your heart are met; giving you the confidence to begin other areas of your treatment protocol such as physical exercise

Understanding the Heart
:

Understanding Heart Failure, or CHF, requires an understanding of how the heart works.  The heart is a muscle that acts like a pump.  There are four chambers and each beats in an organized fashion.  In between each beat, these four chambers fill with blood.  The next beat results in this blood being pumped out of the chambers of the heart, subsequently being pushed throughout the entire body.  Each heart beat is controlled by a series of electrical impulses, and these impulses have two primary responsibilities:

1.      Coordinate and synchronize contractions of the upper chamber of the heart, or the atrium, with the lower chamber (ventricle).

2.      In the ventricle, electrical impulses cause the main pump to contract in a coordinated manner.

CHF occurs when an individual has a problem with either the electrical system, or with a synchronization within the main pumping chamber, also known as bundle branch block (BBB).  When electrical impulse to the heart’s ventricles is blocked or slowed down, the main pumping chambers become out of sync.

Just like other organs or limbs of the body, when the heart looses its coordination, it too will not function at maximum capacity.  However, the heart is our main supply of fresh, oxygenated blood.  When this supply is inadequate, the heart gets weaker.  The heart muscles become larger, the situation becomes worse, and Congestive Heart Failure often results - the heart becomes incapable of pumping oxygen to other vital organs of the body.

CHF Signs and Symptoms:

If you haven’t yet been diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure, its important to meet with your primary care physician to determine the severity of your illness and to see what can be done about your illness.  As far as CHF is concerned, a combination of symptoms usually indicates a serious need for proper treatment and specific behavioral and lifestyle changes.  The symptoms of Heart Failure include:

  • Shortness of breath
  • Difficulty concentrating/impaired thinking
  • Changes in eating habits
  • Noticeable and sudden increases and decreases in bodyweight
  • Coughing when lying down
  • Constant weakness or tiredness
  • Swelling of the abdomen, lower back, legs, ankles, and feet
  • Sleep disturbances

The Cause:

The main cause for heart failure results from added stress being placed upon the heart from underlying health conditions and/or behavioral practices.  These conditions and lifestyle choices all hinder proper heart function by making it work too hard.  Causes can range from people being born with structural heart defects and viral invaders which damage heart muscle, to the well known risk factors and personal behaviors that are associated with either heart disease or heart attack.  These may include:

  • having high blood pressure
  • being overweight or obese
  • smoking
  • consumption of foods high in cholesterol and fat
  • lack of exercise
  • and if you currently suffer from diabetes.

Standard Treatments:

As with all conditions of the body, an improvement of symptoms is the goal of primary treatment.  However, with CHF treatment, there is a stark contrast.  Unlike other severe medical conditions, success of treatment is often dependent upon the willingness of the patient, rather than the methods used by the attending physician.  Three main areas encompass the traditional treatment regime prescribed to Heart Failure patients:

          1.      Lifestyle Change

2.      Medications

3.      Surgery

Lifestyle Change: Alleviating symptoms via lifestyle change is critical to anyone suffering from this condition.  Taking action to modify certain physical and behavioral factors can slow the disease's progression and make life more enjoyable for the patient.  Taking steps to address and correct diet, lack of exercise, smoking, alcohol consumption, stimulant use (e.g. caffeine), as well as eliminating any internal and external stressors can make a huge difference in the way you feel.  As well, learning how to recognize your symptoms and nutritional supplementation are ways to alleviate the difficulty in dealing with these new and challenging restrictions and responsibilities.

Medication: Heart Failure patients are often prescribed many medications that improve circulation.  Others may help to eliminate excessive amounts of water and/or sodium in the body, as these two substances reduce the efficiency of the heart.

Surgery: Surgery is considered the final treatment option for CHF.  Surgical procedures for easing the symptoms associated with Heart Failure include coronary artery bypass surgery or implantation of a CRT pacemaker (Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy or biventricular pacing).  These treatments work to increase blood flow to the heart.  Another non-surgical procedure called an angioplasty may also be an option for some CHF sufferers.

Aventrol has been specifically designed to support your existing CHF treatments.  When taken as part as Your ongoing lifestyle adjustments, Aventrol may work to support circulation, a lowering of blood pressure, and minimize elevated cholesterol levels.

Having CHF means that the heart is more susceptible to illness, including pneumonia and flu. Thus, natural therapies and exercise are critical for maintaining the health of all CHF patients.  Anti-stress therapies, exercise, and nutritional supplementation have all been shown to control the symptoms of Heart Failure, while increasing the quality of life of those suffering from the condition.  Addressing the heart's needs, both physically and nutritionally, helps it to become stronger and improves its overall function.

Although Aventrol cannot provide the physical exertion needed to exercise the heart, it can address any underlying deficiencies that may be adversely impacting the heart, and provide the body with an influx of clinically evaluated nutrients that have been shown to support heart function.

What's Inside Aventrol?

Vitamin B2 - Useful for promoting growth and development, reproduction, and well-being. Instrumental in the metabolism of fatty and amino acids. Also plays a key role in energy production.  This vitamin is especially relevant for Heart Failure patients whom often suffer from a lack of energy.

Vitamins B6 and B12
- Key factors in helping to metabolize homocysteine.  This is important as elevations in homocysteine can increase your risk of developing atherosclerosis.

Vitamin C - May reduce atherosclerotic plaque while also increasing HDL cholesterol levels (the good cholesterol).

Vitamin E
- May support cardiovascular and circulatory health. May increase HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol) while lowering LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol).

Folic Acid
- A study that combined Vitamin B12, B6, and Folic Acid showed that this combination can lower rates of cardiovascular events such as heart attacks and angioplasty.

Hawthorne - This botanical has been shown to stimulate circulation and promote the relaxation of blood vessels. Studies have also shown that hawthorne can regulate both high and low blood pressure.  As well, the PCOs (proanthocyanidins) in hawthorne may be helpful for counteracting coronary artery spasms.

Tri-methylglycine - Helps folic acid, vitamin B12, and vitamin B6 break down amino acids to regulate homocysteine levels.
